Desmond was pretty much back to the armory when he realized that he owed Rio a breakfast. So he quickly deposited his own breakfast before turning around and heading back into the galley. He got there in time to hear the entire crew getting yelled at by Pacifica. If it wasn't for the fact that she relied valuable information, he'd consider locking her in her bunk for this little outburst. She wasn't in the position to make these comments. Still, it wasn't his call. It was Davis' call, and he'd follow the captain's lead. The man had never led them wrong before, so it was all fine and dandy for the moment. That was when he heard Jeri yelling, the gunsmith booked it, bursting into the galley not too long after she started yelling.
Dez blinked as the young lady went off on Pacifica, a smile spreading across his lips. He was proud of the little one. Desmond stepped into the galley still smiling and walked over to Jeri, putting his hand on her head lightly. "I may not have worded it quite like that, but she's right. We all prepare in our own ways. And all of our jobs get done, don't treat us like luh suh. Or that's what you'll get in return." Dez smiled at Jeri and ruffled her hair, something he'd always done, especially after she'd done something that made him proud. "Oh and one more thing. Don't. Mess. With. Jericho." That was almost as bad as messing with Rio in his books. Desmond, defender of little sisters everywhere.
Desmond filled up another plate and looked over at Jeri, "For Rio. Stop by the machine shop when you get a chance kid, I'll work somethin' up for ya!" That something would be none lethal and fun, something to make the girl laugh. Or cause some trouble for Pacifica. Either one was fun for him. After the plate was loaded he looked over at Jeri, letting her run up to him and hug him and kiss his cheek. "Didja eat yet?" Dez nodded, "I got a plate waiting for me in the shop, just came back to grab one for Rio, need to make sure she eats too." He said with a wink, before turning and glaring at Eli, then once again leaving the galley, casting a smile back at Jeri. She was the ship's little sister after all.

Elijah was about to give Jericho the run down on the story. He was going to make it quick so that he would have a moment to try to figure out what the deal was with Keller. He had been keeping an eye on her door for half the night and didn't know why and now here she was out in the galley with the captain like nothing happened.
Just as he began to laugh at the story that he was preparing to tell he was shut down by their operations officer giving him and the rest of the crew the fifth degree. She was telling him how he should be getting ready for the op. His head sunk like a dog being scolded for going to the bathroom next to your bunk.
He would have tried to defend himself but he had no ground to stand on really. They had time off coming and here he was telling stories instead of making sure he was doing his job. Sure they were sitting down to eat and getting a little R and R but they had an operation coming up.
It wasn't the first time he had had his ass chewed out by Pacifica and it likely wouldn't be the last. He had been part of the ship for two years now and he had learned enough about the woman to know that her intentions were good. Both he and her had served in the military, but her career far out weighed his, hell she had done more in the service than any.of the crew. She had also sacrificed more than any of them in the service.
He could remember when he was a corporal in the Haven Defense Force when they were deployed to New Omaha having chewed out several soldiers for wasting time instead of preparing for the mission at hand. Ultimately the way he saw it was she got so hard ass it was because she wanted.to make sure the crew came home in one piece.
Elijah had just nodded to her and stood up making his way for the door when he heard Jericho chime in and give Pacifica what for. His face lit up with a.look of shock when she spoke he had never heard Jeri talk like that before but what really surprised him was how she talked about Pacifica getting to sit back here in safety. Elijah took a deep breath not sure how Pacifica would react to it. The whole idea of telling an wounded soldier something like that just seemed over the top, but Jericho didn't know better. She was young and Pacifica had always been so private about what happened to her.
Pacifica and Elijah had grown fairly close over the years. He had an incredible amount if respect for her and all she had overcome and all the demons she was still fighting. He had no doubt that they were in better hands having Pacifica with the crew so he was able to overlook her cold hard ass no BS attitude as just being her way of being protective. Elijah waited only a second to see how Pacifica would react before he walked out of the room and went to it and started doing what he should be doing.

Kalli had gotten up and gotten herself a plate and was settled back in next to Elijah when the mood of the room quickly began to change. Desmond had left the room upset with Elijah. Oops it appears the old man wasn't in a playing mood today but hey what could you do. Next came Keller for which Kalli had not heard anything about her story other than Elijah had been guarding her door all night.
Next came Jericho asking about what they had been talking about earlier. To that end Kalli was a bit flustered. Elijah was now sitting next to her so she was not prepared to talk about how she slept so poorly and for what reason."I just couldn't seem to get a good nights sleep last night. I uh.. Guess I had a lot on my mind is all. of course that only covered the tip of the whole story.
While she had been talking to Jeri she had only noticed out of the corner of her eye that Vitale had confescated her beautiful plate of food.it took a second for it to register and by then he was already gone. It was only moments after he was gone that a ragin inferno of disaplie called Pacifica walked in to the room warmly greeting them with repramand for their horse play when there was work to be done.
Elijah was the first to be served a cold plate of "get your ass in gear" swiftly followed by a heaping serving for Kalli as well. "But I... I mean.. Damn it Vi. Kalli mumbled along more, to herself than to Pacifica. She wasn't going to fight Pacifica on it. She had never been the direct recipient of her wrath before but she had seen Elijah and a few others be on the receiving end before. After two years on the ship with her how could you not have seen it. Pacifica had been on the ship for about three years from what she had been told and she was usually very pleasant but god forbid you slack off when it is game time, less you are prepared for mama bear to show her strength.
Kalli didn't know her near as well as Elijah but she had heard stories from him. He respected her as much as the captain and that was good enough for Kalli. The captain also seemed to trust her and her skill. Had Pacifica ever been on the opposite side from Kalli she would be scared that was for sure, injured or not the woman was a down right killer if she needed to be.
As Pacifica made her way to the next crew members on the list Kalli stood up and made her way over to get a new plate, Via would get a price of her mind later for the hot water he,landed her in. Of course a piece of Kallis mind was not much of threat. As Kallinstood there dishing up her plate the tempo of the room changed again with the loudest and most determine voice Jericho could muster. Unlike Pacifica barking this one was surprising.
It was out of character for Jericho to take charge like that and maybe a little foolish, not that Kalli hadn't done foolish things like that she was young to and sometime she just didn't understand the cavity of a situation as well. How could either of them really understand neither of them know what it was like to serve in a war. Neither of them had gone in to battle like Pacifica had. And thought Jericho had lost family in one of the many wars that had happened in their life times they didn't know what it was like to fight and bleed and come close to dying in those wars. They both may never know what it was like to suffer the tolls of war like them members of the crew who had done so first hand.
Kalli's heart sank when she heard Jericho talk about her 'getting' to stay behind in relative safety. What she did know of Pacifica was that she would rather be out there with the others. It was a brutal comment and Kalli dropped her plate on the counter right then and there and made her way for the door just in time to hear Dez who had just gotten there in time to heard Jericho returning fire agree with her. Kalli wanted to be no part of the battle that was about to follow that comment. Nope she was going to get out of the blast range before it was to late.

What happened after he and Gunn had arrived was odd to say the least. First, Trux arrived and did his morning ritual of sniffing various people in the room and begging food. He was soon followed by Vitale's return into the room along with Jericho. Cordoba immediately started in trying to pawn off his assignments to someone else, but the captain cut off his attempt. Despite the man's self deprecating attitude at times, Davis trusted Vitale more than most and he had more skills than just his gun. Most importantly, Vitale thought outside of the box and could get excited about these side jobs, this morning apparently being a rare exception.
Who else was there on the ship to do it? Where were these hidden experts? The two men assigned to the torpedo room were Vitale and Lewis, hardly an expert. The only people with any specialization in deciphering intel were Pacifica and Esmay. The former was busy with other assignments and the latter couldn't rightly be given the task to vet her own information. That left precious few others who had no major assignments on board. Gunn was currently under investigation herself so that left either Vitale or Eli. The young merc was no more qualified for the task than Vitale.
It was a little hard, but Davis wasn't going to entertain one of his crew trying to worm his way out of his assignments, certainly not in the galley in front of half of the crew. Unfortunately, between Jericho hugging people, attempts to get the conversation restarted from earlier, and Vitale leaving to work, Pacifica arrived to further reinforce the work ethic. She was more work than most and not exactly a fan of breakfast, a lot like Roger in that respect. Straight from the bridge for a brief break, she went off on the others sitting around the room as if taking a few minutes off while travelling in the middle of space was a mortal sin.
As soon as she had arrived, she was gone again back to the bridge, but Jericho apparently wasn't going to let that slide. She caught up to their operations officer and let her have it. "Ma galley" this and "ma kitchen" that. "How dare you!" It was all a bit excessive and overly dramatic. This was shortly followed by Desmond arriving from nowhere and backing the cook up even warning about messing with Jericho despite Pacifica not having even said anything to the girl.
Davis sighed. What the hell was going on? "If everyone is finished playing captain, I think I would like to reassume the role." he spoke in a calm voice in stark contrast to the elevated and angry tones of a moment ago. "Alexander, back to the bridge." he ordered in an attempt to separate the parties and put out this fire before it got out of hand. "Montgomery, you'll hold your tongue next time and bring any grievances to me instead of making a fool of yourself." The Peerless was starting to look like junior high, not a fighting ship.

Pacifica had said her piece and was on her way out the door when Jericho cought her to give her what for. Pacifica didn't take the job to make friends three years ago. She had finished her time in the service and been in a job that just didn't give her the satisfaction she was after so she ended up here, working for Davis. She knew some of the crew were friends now and some hadn't ever warmed up to her hard-line attitude. It was understandable she hasn't ever changed in her life. She was on the clock from the moment she arrived at work to the moment she left, in this case she never did leave so she was always on Roger's time. It was hard, for her to put that idea aside.
Jericho was but a child and she had her own way of doing things, and it seemed this time the two differing ideologies were going to clash.
"Yaw best be darn mad to come in to MA galley act'n a fool Miss Alexander." The young woman wailed. "Now.. Ah get you'd just tryna make sure everythin is ship shape. But HOW DARE YOU."
Pacifica said nothing waiting for her to vent all she needed to so she could feel satisfied with her words. She had more then once in her life gotten the riot act about her less than friendly nature. That was by no means an issue for her. There were line though and in Jericho's opinion Pacifica had crossed it.
"THEY'S the ones that's gone be down'ere get'n shot at. THEY'S the ones that's gotta deal with that." It was at this moment that Pacifica stopped listening. If they'd let her she would be down there with them. She had fought and nearly died, lost her friends in battle back in the Red Pact War. She knew the weight of what they were facing. The audacity of her to make such a statement boiled Pacifica's blood. Add to that Desmond walking in having no clue what Pacifica had even said and and backing Jericho's statement.
It was icing on the cake when he told her not to mess with Jericho. A lot of the men on the ship treated her like a little sister. A respectable approach to someone who has, had the trauma she has been through but it clouded their judgment from time to time. Pacifica wanted to return fire, lay in to them both but she had spoke her mind how she felt about the laxidasical attitude the crew had and Elijah and Kalli had already made their move from the galley and on their way to work. She would bit her lip and soldier on. She had been reserved about how she was injured with most of the crew. She made little mention of her service history so how could she expect them to actually understand where she was coming from with her detication to making sure they were ready. Thankless or not she would not soften her stance on readiness.
Before the situation got more out of hand the captain chimed in and Pacifica snapped to turning to face him. "Understood sir." Pacifica replied then turned on her heels again and left the room back to work.

Jerichos breath caught in her throat as she looked appalled that the Captain hadn't even taken her side a little bit. Was she wrong in this? Jericho hadn't thought so. Everyone knew the kitchen and the galley were places for smiles. Of course she didn't even realize her statement was down right cruel to their Operations Officer. She turned to face her captain, the man she'd made out to be her make-shift father. Hell she'd been here since she was what 15? 16? This crew of mercenaries and cutthroats had become the only family she knew. "Makin' a fool.." She sputtered, her eyes welling up not exactly understanding why she'd become the bad guy. All she wanted was to make sure everyone ate a hearty meal before this big mission and they got a chance to breath before putting their necks on the chopping block.
Instead she'd only made drama. What would Vitale say?
Ashamed, the young womans head ducked down and she nodded. "Yessir, Captain Davis." She let out quietly, stomping off towards her room. Her door slammed. Music blared. For once Jericho agreed with her crewmates.
Mornings suck.
