Main Plot
Dreaming of Serenity is set in the year 2582, sixty-four years after the events of the film Serenity. In many ways this is the same old 'Verse we all know and love with billions of inhabitants, millions of ships, and hundreds of worlds... truly a vast setting. The adventures of one small ship is nothing compared to the big picture going on around them and our members are largely given free reign to come up with their own adventures and plots. That being said, our story does not take place in a vacuum. Here is what has happened in the 'Verse since Serenity:

The adventures of one small ship is nothing compared to the big picture going on around them and our members are largely given free reign to come up with their own adventures and plots. That being said, our story does not take place in a vacuum. Here is what has happened in the 'Verse since Serenity:
- The events that transpired on Miranda were revealed to the 'Verse in the year 2518. The Alliance quickly tried to cover up the Signal and largely succeeded.
- In 2520 a rebellion started on Beylix in response to the Signal and a dozen other grievances against the Alliance. What originally seemed destined to fail suddenly and surprisingly turned into victory by 2526. The general discontent at Alliance rule combined with the Alliance stretching itself too thin eventually led to a fracturing of the entire system.
- Over the next three decades the Alliance steadily retreated back to the Core as the Rim and Border worlds rose up one after another. Several wars were fought, but the end of unification wasn't nearly as bloody as the imposition of Alliance control had been during the Unification War.
- The Alliance is currently restricted to the Core worlds of the White Sun system (i.e. everything within 25 AU of White Sun/the inner 11 planets) and a handful of possessions in the outer systems such as Ares in the Georgia system. The Alliance is still the largest and strongest force in the 'Verse but their power has waned significantly.
- The rest of the 'Verse has fragmented into hundreds of different political entities all with varying government structures, militaries, policies, etc. Some worlds are self governing. Others are even divided within themselves between competing nations. Others still control numerous worlds though mutual consent or military force. Gone are the days of one simple all powerful government controlling the entire 'Verse.
- Seventy years later, the Reavers still exist on the fringes of space, the ever present boogeyman.
What's your part in all this? That depends on who you are.

As the site progresses, this thread will be updated as things change throughout the 'Verse. As mentioned previously, we allow our members freedom to RP as they like and to join or not join Staff plots. However, keep in mind that some plots will affect the board as a whole whether you are involved or not.
