The galley might be the heart of the crew, but the Core a deck beneath it is the heart of the ship. For the more technically minded, the Core is the Gravity Drive. For everyone else, it's the big turn-y thing. The Core: - Powers the ship. All the lights, computers, microwave ovens, etc. run off the alternator from the Core. Of course the interplanetary pulse engines are also powered by the Core which contains a fusion reaction.
- Maintain's the ship's artificial gravity and ensures equilibrium when competing with the gravitational fields of other objects.
- Ensures the engines don't rip themselves off the ship from a pulse and also aids in maneuvering.
- Contains fusion reactions and keeps the entire ship from blowing up in a nuclear blast and/or leaking radiation to kill us all.
Needless to say, let the engineers maintain this room and NEVER mess with anything. Ship Layout
