Sometimes you just need a place to lock people up whether they're captured bad guys, someone that might be a bad guy you're unsure about, or even if there is a quarantine situation and you need to separate someone. That's what the brig is for.
The brig is actually four rooms in a "block." In general the rooms are fairly barren, gun metal grey, and very dark. The three smaller rooms are the cells with small cots and toilets like you'd see in a prison. These rooms are used for most guests, those merely under transport from Point A to Point B. The fourth room is for interrogation, slightly larger than the other three but lacking when it comes to furnishings.
All four rooms have added security measures against escape from within and the small hallway section accessing the block can also be locked down if need be.
