Your History - Corwin was born in the small town of Post Point, population seven thousand. Post Point was a small manufacturing town that nearly everyone in post Point worked in one of the factories building parts for space stations and ships. Corwin's father Corwin Sr. worked in one of those factories all his life, just like his father before him. As a young boy Corwin began to learn the family trade as well. year by year Corwin began to work with his father more and more and by the time he was fourteen he was working full time with his father and no longer attending school.
For Corwin it didn't seem like an abnormal thing to not finish school to begin working. Most of his friends had done so around the same time as him and those few that held out were not far behind. Post Point was not well known for its education system, that was life in a poor manufacturing town. When Corwin was seventeen what would become the biggest project in the history of Stonewall and Highgate began. Construction on the Space elevator (or beanstalk as it quickly became known as) began. Corwin and his father were among the crews who began the manufacturing of parts on the Stonewall side.
Three miles outside the town of Post Point became Base Station Two, the Stonewall side of the construction. Stonewall's population would over the thirteen year construction period rise from 398,000 to 496,000 and finally fall back to 475,000 when it was all said and done. Like Stonewall itself Post Point would see its population rise from a mere seven thousand to settle at fifty-six thousand people. The first two years of the project on the Stonewall side would see the full construction of Base Station Two completed and the population grow from seven thousand to nineteen thousand. For many of the original inhabitants of Post Point I was a hard period of adjustment, Corwin was no exception. All his life had been spent in the small town and now it was the beginning to look more like a big city to him. With the growth came more poverty for all as the price of everything began to inflate with the growth.
By the forth year Corwin had been transferred by the factory he worked in from manufacturing parts for the project to helping assemble the 29,179 km structure. Highgate had already reached the 500km mark and was producing its end quickly. The beanstalk had become the pride of Stonewall, or at least Post point that the city limits now had reached the edge of Base Station Two. Yet they had only reached 234km. All the factories began to put more focus on their end of construction efforts instead of just making the parts for both sides. Corwin was one of many that signed on to go up and accelerate the Stonewall side of construction to help match that of Highgate.
It was that year when Corwin was twenty-one that he met Genevieve who was also part of the assembly crew. it was eleven months later, just after his twenty second birthday day that he married the now twenty year old Genevieve. The two were inseparable as they worked and lived together they never had to spend time apart. Over the next few years the construction sored to new heights as they reached over 6000km above the surface of Stonewall, still just behind the height of that done by Highgate. If was during this time that Genevieve became pregnant with their first child, Corwin Nicolas Baldwin III. Genevieve worked through her pregnancy up until the last month. With Young Corwin's birth Genevieve would have to stay home to raise him and for the first time the two no longer got to spend all their time together.
Three more years passed and construction drug on, as well as the pair adding their second child Luther Benson In that same year Corwin was nearly killed in an accident in the elevator to the structure. He was left in the hospital for four weeks from the accident and a scar down his back that would last a lifetime. It was eleven weeks before he was able to return to work. With the accident the elevator was shut down as a method of transporting crews and Corwin began to work as a co-pilot to one of the ships transporting crews up the tower. Nine months before the construction was completed Corwin was certified as a pilot himself and took over flying crews up the tower for repairs.
Thirteen years had passed and the construction was competed in the end Stonewall would build 13,763km of the tower and Highgate the remaining 15,416km. Many people on both ends of the construction would relocate with work winding down. By this point Corwin and Genevieve had already had their third child, a daughter named Nicole Marie Baldwin. They had never known any other place then Post Point all their lives and their roots were firmly planted. Corwin kept his job as a pilot working for the repair companies for the tower. It was constant work to keep it in shape and running perfectly.
Three years after the construction they would add the last of their four children Thomas Luther Baldwin. Post point had fallen in population by eleven thousand to its final resting point of fifty-six thousand people by this point. With so many people gone from the place many people moved in closer to the housing near Base Station Two and left their homes in old town. Corwin and Genevieve were one of the few who didn't, instead opting to stay in the Baldwin home that had been built by Corwin's great-grandfather Luther Nicolas Baldwin eighty-one years ago, nearly at the very beginning of settlement of Stonewall.
When the war came and the Alliance began its efforts to Unify the 'Verse the Baldwin's life had been moving along exactly as they had planned. Corwin was one of the lead pilots for the TransGate Corporation that ran everything that had to do with the Beanstalk. At first the war seemed far off and didn't involve them. Corwin turned a blind eye to it. He had a family to focus on and they needed him. It was best for all he didn't get involved, or at least that is how he justified it. But as the years passed by it drew closer and closer to him. When the war drew out to Blue Sun and even to Highgate he was no longer able to not react to it. Many people from Stonewall had followed the same thought path as him and they joined with the Independents in an effort to protect their home.
Even TansGate Corporation agreed, they had spent their time building a business around the Beanstalk. With the war now going on around it the Highgate base their business was in danger, on top of that the threat of regulation and extra tax from the Alliance they consented to using fifteen of their forty-two ship fleet for the maintenance. TransGate coordinated with the Independents to form the rag tag band of workers in a formal part of the Independent Army.
As a battle Raged on the Highgate end of the tower TransGate launched its wing of ships to drop off nearly Twenty-five hundred rebels from Stonewall on Highgate along with the tower itself carrying another fifteen hundred through the elevator itself. Of the fifteen transport ships they launched from Stonewall only eight of them actually made the landing only five hundred and twenty people. Corwin would make the landing as one of the eight ships and even began his attempt to return back to Stonewall for a second run.
He would not make it back to Stonewall though. His ship was hit and left a drift. He suited up and abandoned the ship in a effort to make it to the tower. It was only moments after that his ship was destroyed by the alliance. Corwin managed to get himself to the tower, gain access to the inside and return to the surface of Highgate. Corwin would never hear from the remainder of the pilots he had once worked with that flew with him in to battle.
On the surface Corwin would join the battle the raged at the surface below the tower. With the battle being going poorly for the Independents Corwin along with those he had found on the surface were pushed back from the tower and extracted from the area to be taken of the planet. Corwin officially joined with the Independent Army and Was sent off to Meridian for the remaining year and a half of the way.
When the news of the Battle o Serenity Valley and the end of the war reached Meridian the army that stood guard there disbanded and like the Others Corwin returned to his life he had left behind. His oldest son now Sixteen had taken up following in his Corwin's footsteps working for the TransGate Corporation. Corwin took him on as his co-pilot when he returned to work and the family began to pick up the pieces from the war. Three years after the war Corwin's oldest son left to help in rebuilding other planets from the war. A year later his second oldest would leave for the Core to be the first in the family to seek a formal education. All this time the condition of the out skirts of Post Point continued to deteriorate in to slums and a criminal haven.
in 2518 while Corwin was hauling cargo back from Red Sun for the TransGate Corporation his family was attacked by slavers. His wife and youngest son tried to fight them off but both were killed along with Corwin's mother who still lived in the family house. When Corwin returned he was confronted but his dead family, all but his daughter who was missing from the home. She had been taken, it would take seven months of the authorities to investigate and find out she was taken by slavers.
It was with this revelation that she might still be alive and Corwin set out to try and find her. For the last year he has been taking jobs with different ships trying to make his way around the verse to find his daughter and the slavers who took her.

Corwin had just walked in o the large cargo transport ship that TransGate had agree to let him use for the coming battle. There were fourteen others that sat in a line next to him. His forehead was covered in sweat, not from the heat but fear. He was no soldier. He had never been trained or even thought of the idea of going to war before. What choice did he have though, the war had come to him and he had a family to defend.
His heart nearly beat out of his chest as he walked through the crowed of people standing in the cargo bay. If any of them would still be alive tomorrow was anyone's guess at this point, but all Corwin had to worry about for the moment was getting them to the battle field. The Alliance has several cruisers in space between Highgate and Stonewall. One of the other pilots had told him before he got in tha their mission was going to be like threading a needle at a thousand miles an hour. That thought rung in his mind, what had they gotten themselves in to.
There was no mistaking by the looks on the faces of those around him that they were wondering the same thing. For the most part they were boys in the cargo bay. Some as young as fifteen and he was to fly them in to battle. Worse then that he was the one charged with leading the flight wing. He walked up the stairs on to the catwalk that looked down over them. He paused a moment to take in the faces of them all sixty-five kids heading to battle and he was to get them there. "May God be with you all." He said to them before turning to walk down the hall to the cockpit. He was no motivational speaker. He could hardly convince himself it was going to be alright.
The walk to the cockpit seemed to drag on forever even though it was only a minute walk. When he finally sat down in the chair and began his preflight prep. "May God be with us all." Finally he started the ship up and opened comms with the TransGate Comms Tower as well as the other ships. "Tower this is Transport One we are read. Just waiting on the others."
He paused as the tower replied back. "Transport One, you are clear as soon as all ships have checked in.
"Understood tower..... Rick, do me a favor, check on my family from time to time for me." Corwin replied.
"Just keep your head down Corwin." The tower replied. a few minutes passed as the other ships checked in and made themselves ready then one by one after Corwin lifted off they all followed. They were only minutes away from the hardest fight of their lives.
