I love reading and learning about stuff like this. I'm an oddball for reading articles, which I do quite a lot.
There's a movement of people who, for different reasons (escaping culture of debt, financial concerns, environmentalist ideals, etc.) have decided to live in as compact a space as possible. They live in a fraction of the square footage of a typical home and tend to build their homes to their specifications at a cost of less than $23,000. Their bills are extremely low as a result, and most of them own their homes outright.
This is an example of one (it's 30 minutes long so I doubt anyone wants to watch the whole thing), but it looks pretty neat. I think it's a neat idea. I don't think I'd want to live in as small as space as that just because some of the things I do and want to do take up more space (hello big-ass sectional couch), but in terms of things I want and like, eh, I could see it. Show me a tiny house that looks comfortable (big couch!), cater it to gamers/writers, and I'm yours <3.
Kind of interesting to see, isn't it?
Stop calling me a hippy, Roger.
