Osiris is both the military and judicial heart of the Alliance. It is home to both the Alliance High Court as well as the Alliance Admiralty. Osiris thus also hosts the 'Verse's leading law schools and Alliance military academies. Most major law firms also have branches here. Much military R&D occurs here at the many military installations, and there are significant dry dock and other factories to further facilitate the Alliance war machine.
During the height of Alliance power, Osiris was also home to the Blue Sun Corporation's headquarters and a hub of their operations, the corporation having moved their from its original base on Sihnon. Since the decline of Alliance power, Blue Sun has relocated out to the system that bears its name where it can operate outside of any governments. Yet, Blue Sun still retains some manufacturing facilities on Osiris from this previous era.
In addition to law and military, Osiris also has many other institutions of higher education. Many cities are "college towns" with many students coming from off world to study at these universities.
