Overall Personality - Chen is a pleasant woman to be around and keeps a cool temper. She isn't always able to hold onto her emotions, however, and if she is insulted strongly then she will become irritated at best and furious at worst. Once she loses respect for someone, it can be very hard for them to get it back. She sometimes looks distracted, humming and toying with the hem of her dress, but she is very observant and keeps her eye on the situation around her. Despite saying that she supports the Alliance, her opinion is beginning to waver.

Your History - Chen was born and raised on Sihnon with her brother, Syaoran. Their parents supported the Alliance, especially during the War for Independence, and both of them did the same. Syaoran always knew that he would work for the Alliance, and Chen expected to do the same. The two of them grew up playing little games of "'verse explorers" where Syaoran was the mission commander and Chen was his loyal subordinate (and the one who actually went out and did the missions because the commander's life was too important to risk). When Chen was fifteen, she suddenly changed her mind and decided that she wanted to be a Companion. Her brother was uncomfortable with the thought but told her that he would support her no matter what.

When she was seventeen, Chen met Francis Cooper, the son of the chief of medicine at the local hospital. They began a brief romance which culminated in Chen becoming pregnant with a little girl. Unwilling to reveal the truth to her parents, she left home as soon as possible. Once the child was born, Chen left and began her Companion training. She never encountered Francis again and did her best to avoid him, feeling a little ashamed at falling in love and nearly ruining everything for herself. For the first few years, she worked exclusively on Sihnon but decided to leave when she and her brother got in an argument about what the Alliance had done to Miranda.

Roleplay Example - Chen kept her fingers folded in her lap as she waited for the man to stop speaking. Normally, she kept herself composed when meeting with clients, but his voice was so droning and filled with sudden starts and stops that she was rapidly growing annoyed. Only the fact that she was on a job kept her from fidgeting with her skirt and letting her gaze wander around the room.

'Why did I pick this one?' she thought as he paused to search for a word. Then his face lit up in a smile and she remembered. When he smiled it was as though all the stars in the sky were shining through his face.

"Actually, I was born on Sihnon," she said when he finished. "I suppose it retrospect it was obvious that I would be a Companion, but when I was younger I thought I would work for the Alliance." She smiled at the thought of the games she had played with Syaoran when they were younger. "Sometimes I still wonder what it might have been like to fly in one of those great city-ships."
