Veritas
The Captain: Alliance fighter ace... wrongfully discharged hero... Kieran Dougray MacPhelan has many tales to tell. Some of them are even true. Disarming, amiable, he'll treat you right if you return the favor. Sure, the work might not always be on the up and up, but the pay is good if your morals can color in shades of gray. Some people lead with an iron fist... he prefers a smile. Just don't play poker with him, unless you've got money to burn.

Tell us about the Ship:
Story:
The story behind "Veritas" is a dark and woeful tale, filled with heartache, sorrow, and tragedy. Sure sets the atmosphere, doesn't it? Too bad none of it's true. To be honest, the ship itself has had a pretty vanilla run so far. The Tomahawk-class courier ship was bought off the line shortly after the war ended by an enterprising transport captain. Things went along swimmingly for several years and probably would still have been except for one unfortunate incident. The captain had a falling out with his long-time lover. In a bout of depression, he took to drinking and gambling.
Now, as anyone can tell you, drinking and gambling do not generally go well together. For a short time, however, things seemed to be looking up and he was winning. Egged on by the crowd and the freely flowing booze, the man kept betting bigger. Unfortunately, the House always wins in the end. The cards started turning against the man. If he'd been a little more sober and a little less distraught from his previous loss, he kept betting, desperate to turn his luck around. When all was said and done, however, Lady Luck turned away from him as surely as his lady love had. As for the captain...he was thrown out of the casino and the ship was confiscated to pay for his debts. No one knows what happened to him after that, but it's fair to say that his crew probably wasn't that happy with him.
Well...what do you know? It appears that this story had tragedy after all. Anyway, the casino sold off the ship to a used ship sales yard and there it sat for one whole week until Kieran MacPhelan walked into the yard. Two hours later, a lot of negotiation, and one crying, depressed salesman later and the Tomahawk-class ship had a new owner. Christened "Veritas," she's surely bound for a far more exciting future.
Technical Information:
This class of ship was designed as a fast, multipurpose transport and it has seen considerable success since its launch a few years back. Many captains appreciate the armament, spacious cargo deck, and dedicated vehicle bay. The installed systems emphasize defense over offence, but the turrets can still be very effective in the hands of trained personnel.
"Veritas" is comprised of three decks. The uppermost is the smallest – holding only the bridge and operations room. The main living area is the middle deck. The lower deck is a single large bay used for cargo or small craft.
This particular model is modified with two extra crew/passenger rooms and a bathroom located forward port side area of the lower cargo deck. A MF-813 Flying Mule for cargo and personnel movement is stored in the forward starboard side. An Endo/exo-atmospheric shuttle is stored in the forward bay.
Veritas has three defensive turret cannons, one dorsal cannon and two located under each wing. The dorsal cannon is accessed via a ladder in Operations. The two wing turrets are manned remotely via gunnery stations behind the bridge. The cannons are moderately-sized, civilian-authorized models.
Plot Development: Kieran is looking to expand his business away from Persephone and be able to utilize his contacts across the 'Verse more efficiently. People have needs and people have what is needed. Contraband, Information, heck...he'll even do legitimate transport if the pay is right. He's always looking for the next play though...a way to get big. Smuggling is a start, but it's just a means to an end. He's looking for bigger.
Crew: She needs a full complement:

Kieran is willing to take passengers on a case by case basis. He's also interested in supporting a Companion if one happens to be looking to set up an acceptable business relationship in exchange for passage and use of the shuttle.

Please know that the staff will work with you the best we can to help make your ship a success, however the ship's future and activity depends largely on it's captain. You need to be willing to work together with your crew to do missions/jobs..etc. The staff is here to assist you, not do the work for you. If your ship becomes inactive you may loose it, for good.
