Age - 29
Date of Birth - March 3rd
Gender - Male
Sexual Orientation - Heterosexual
Affiliation - Neutral, fought for the Independents

Build - Fairly Muscular
Height & Weight - 5'11, 185 Lbs.
Hair - Short blonde, combed back if at all

Unique Features - Numerous minor cuts, burns, callouses, etc. from his occupation
Dressing Style - Fairly plain and practical. His standard outfit is generally gray or dark green pants, a white or black t-shirt, tan or black boots, and a black/gray field cap. He occasionally wears a brown jacket when out and naturally he has other equipment for his duties that threaten to shoot hot sparks in your face or uncovered arms.
Other - Despite living on a ship and his blue collar job, his clothing and general body hygiene are both very good. He attempts not to dirty himself and is quick to change and wash after he's had no choice but get covered in grease.
Likes - Learning about a new machine and then trying to replicate it and improve upon it, good tools, strong camaraderie, strong drink, music, work that needs to be done
Dislikes - Noise (up to his interpretation: hum of engine = good, scrapping sound = bad), law breakers (i.e. the really bad ones that cross the line: slavers, raiders, guys that steal from churches, etc.), lack of a appreciation for his work and skills, having his name mispronounced, the lazy
Quirks/Habits - Friedrich has a hard time doing nothing. It's not in the ADHD sense that he can't sit still, it's that he doesn't want to be idle. Usually he finds work to do but he can also content himself with recreation so long as it's something and not just sitting around literally doing nothing (or what he deems to be just about nothing)
Fears - Being completely stumped by a mechanical issue, having one of his replacements fail catastrophically
Secrets - Doesn't advertise his war service
Strengths - Intelligent, perceptive, quick, creative, determined
Weaknesses - Determined, yearning for the past, drive to overwork, language barrier
Talents/Special Abilities - Incredibly skilled and creative machinist - He has the "hands of a surgeon" and the "eye of an artist" when it comes to building.
Quick reflexes - He has better perception and agility than most. They have served him well in the war and at work plying his trade.
Musical talent - Without a doubt his more secretive skill is music, his greatest pastime. He is incredibly knowledgeable about numerous genres and can play a handful of instruments, most notably the piano.
Aspirations - Keep building and creating one hell of a life's work. Return to the comraderie of the war.
Overall Personality - Friedrich is one of those people that can be a little tough to crack. To a stranger on the street he is cold, but after getting to know someone a bit (and with the help of alcohol) he reveals a very warm personality underneath.
Happy Friedrich or mean Friedrich, he is always very professional. He has a strong work ethic; is very respectful, deferential, and obedient toward superiors (his parents, his boss, his platoon commander, his clients, etc.); and he's very determined. He enjoys a challenge and will always get the job done. There is the element that he has given his word and knows that success breeds more business, but more importantly he doesn't ever want to find his own limitations. It may take longer than expected but he's never met a problem, mechanical at least, that he couldn't solve.
As his name might suggest, Friedrich is a speaker of the German mutt tongue. He is fluent in English and conversational in Chinese but German remains his primary language and his accent carries over heavily into his other languages. At times this can make it seem like he's not fluent at all. When his blood gets pumping through the excitement of a clever idea, the rush of a firefight, or the warmth of a pint of beer his German will seep through even further into his vocabulary.
Friedrich is also a war vet and thus no stranger to violence (although a former Independent, Friedrich is surprisingly tame and apathetic about how things turned out). He knows how to handle himself and a weapon although he's no super-soldier or dead-eye. Friedrich also has an aversion to unnecessary killing. Killing in self-defense, and he has a loose interpretation of that, is fine. Execution of a captured enemy or cold blooded murder is not. Hurt kids? Never.

Your History - Friedrich was born on Baeumonde into a industrial life in a German neighborhood that would forever characterize him. His father worked in a machine shop and the young boy would be by his side often either brought to work by his father, just visiting with his mother, or escaping and running to see his father work. By the age of eight he was finally given some basic instruction beyond what he'd learned from observation for years. By ten they actually let him work in the shop occasionally. By fourteen he was working fairly regularly and by sixteen it was pretty much straight from school and into the shop everyday. It was that ever sought after occupation where your work was your hobby, that thing you'd do even if money was not an issue.
When he was eighteen, Friedrich took a job outside of the shop and began work at a nearby factory producing starships for the now raging war. Less than a year later, Friedrich left the factory aboard one of the ships as a new recruit in the Independent Army. He initially served in an all German speaking regiment until later becoming part of the 217th Infantry Battalion.
He left the war and the army as a corporal, having survived without much more than a few cuts and scrapes even after Serenity Valley. Friedrich came home from the war to his old factory job until the work dried up a few months later, war needs scaling down to zero. He moved back in with his folks for a time and back into the old machine shop, but things weren't right anymore.
After about a year, Friedrich left his homeworld and set out for Beylix. It was there that he would perform his greatest feat, the construction of a mid-bulk transport of his own design. It would have been an insignificant accomplishment except for the fact that he'd built the entire thing alone without the aid of factory equipment or an assembly line of workers. He'd also used only the scrap lying around the 'Verse's largest junkyard to do it. To be frank, it was an ugly piece of crap, but what would you expect given the circumstances and "interior decorator" not being one of Friedrich's skills? The important thing was that the gorram thing flew and was perfectly spaceworthy.
Since then, Friedrich has continued to ply his trade looking for work and challenges. Even when he finds them though, he has continued drifting, like how he left his home, because something wasn't quite right. Ever since the war he has been seeking a return to what was lost, the bond of his unit.

Roleplay Example -
"Vorwärts! Los!" the Hauptmann ordered. The under-strength company of ragged Independent troops surged forward over the parapet and were immediately greeted by a stream of gunfire. "Weitergehen!"
Private Hoffman followed his commanders into the hell before them. It cost over a quarter of their force to reach the line of buildings but 50 meters away, but Friedrich made it in one piece. "Soldat. Schießen sie!" the officer beside him ordered, pointing with his pistol at a group of Alliance troops rushing across the street.
"Javohl!" Friedrich raised his rifle and fired alongside the young Leutnant. Three bursts staccatoed from the barrel and one of the men running down the street fell in a heap before reaching cover. Hoffman paused for a moment as if surprised at what had happened before the continued encouragement of the Leutnant got him to reengage.
