Ellen Carter
"Time for some thrilling heroics"
------------------------------------------------------

Sexual Orientation - heterosexual

Occupation -Pilot
Play-By -Winona Ryder
Build - slender
Height & Weight - 5'6" 127 lbs

Unique Features -tattoo of a sparrow on her forearm. Her sister has a matching one on her ankle. The sparrow represents their father
Dressing Style -Bounces back and forth between a jumpsuit and boots or an undershirt with a jacket on top and cargo pants with boots. Piloty stuff, but nothing official uniform-like. Refer to play-by pictures to see style. As far as makeup goes, she doesn't usually gussy up, but proactively stays clean.
Other - n/a
Likes -loves to fly and explore, enjoys her privacy, appreciates straightforwardness of people, freedom/independence, sense of adventure
Dislikes - large cities with crowds and sketchy people, people who underestimate her talent due to age, being left alone/being disliked, rude people or overly aggressive people, and the Alliance
Quirks/Habits -enjoys updating/informing crew as a stewardess/commercial pilot over the ship's intercom in a casual silly way. Sometimes talks to/refers to her picture of her childhood pet lizard Geronimo. The picture is usually placed on the dashboard.
Fears -Abandonment/isolation
Secrets -joy-rode a ship as an under-aged youth without a license. Accidentally killed the childhood family pet lizard Geronimo.
Strengths - extremely perceptive due to quiet/observant nature, fiercely loyal to her crew, easy going/easy to get along with, knowledgeable about ship layouts and how to fly most ships, and has contacts on a variety of planets (due to nomadic nature).
Weaknesses -can be initially shy/distant, terrible at flirting, occasional anxiety, lacks fighting skills/terrible shot, lightweight drinker (and a sloppy drunk!)
Talents/Special Abilities -Natural/gifted pilot, flexible/limber and can juggle baby geese.
Aspirations - Overall would enjoy adventures on jobs. At some point, she would like to know more of what happened to her father.
Overall Personality - Its briefly mentioned in the history, but compared to her sister, Ellen is a bit more quiet and of an observer. She is usually shy when she first meets people, but always attempts to be polite and make friends. Once she's gotten to know someone she opens up and nearly becomes another person. When she's comfortable with the people she's working with she'll often be snappy/sarcastic and will make joking remarks (a trait much more dominantly seen in her sister Casey, who's snarky alllll the time). Being a bit shy at first does not mean she's defenseless or odd. Ellen is willing to speak up and express her opinion if need be, and will fight to protect the people she cares about. She'll crack the occasional joke or make a small remark during a job, but she's usually focused and skillful with what she does.

Your History -
Ellen's mother died when she was 8, and only remembers key details about her. As a child, she lived with her younger sister Casey and her father (Simon). As a worker at the docks, Ellen's father would regularly take them along. Both daughters learned to love ships growing up. Since she was the older child, Ellen learned the basics to fly from her father. When war broke out, their father enlisted and left both of them behind. Ellen's father died when she was a teenager.
With no next of kin, Ellen was forced to raise Casey alone. The two moved into a smaller apartment and she quickly replaced her father at the docks. Once when on the job, she was inside one of the ships working when the dock was held at gunpoint by a fugitive on the run. He quickly took the ship and attempted to break orbit. What he didn't realize was that Ellen was still on the ship when he took off. Extremely scared but determined to face the hijacker, Ellen armed herself and made her way quietly across the ship. Her initial surprise attack caught him off guard but did not stop him, and after great struggle, he knocked his head against the wall. The man, now unconscious, fell forward onto the controls and threw the ship down back towards the planet. It spiraled quickly, threatening to crash. Pulling the man off the controls, Ellen desperately tried to remember the basic flying lessons she received from her father and managed to level and land the ship. In that moment of an adrenaline rush, Ellen rekindled her passion for flying.
After years of saving money, she soon had enough to enroll into flight school. After she received her certification, she took Casey and began offering her flight services around the docks. Ellen found greater profitability and experience through smuggling with various crews. Her initial jobs were small, but after gaining experience and a reputation, she quickly found her way into piloting larger ships with bigger jobs.
The two sisters fought all the time growing up. After fighting for so long the two had a falling out, and both went their separate ways. Ellen often thinks of her little sister, and would one day like to reconcile with her.
What should we call you? - Sparrow, by my username or Ellen, by character name
Roleplaying Experience - In terms of forum RP experience, my first attempts at writing was in a forum dedicated to NationStates, where we RP'ed leaders and characters from our unique countries (and we would go to war, political strife, etc). When Star Wars: The Old Republic came out, I joined a RP/Pve guild and we forum RP-ed all the time. My character was in a series of "missions" which includes several forum members. Writing a backstory/chronicles for my Star Wars trooper was one of my greater achievements. The whole backstory was also posted on the same forum. I rewatched the Firefly episodes and was inspired to RP, so via general search, stumbled upon the 'Verse, and after watching BSG, joined BSG Hyperion for RPing

Prove Yourself -
Post Script - Not much else to say. She's neither an introvert nor entirely an extrovert. Her personality was a bit hard to write out, because "normal" isn't very descriptive. Unlike her sister Casey who is extremely rude and introverted, she's much more polite but not super shy either. Her dynamic is hard to express as an individual, but when she's working with people (or in a writing sense, working off other characters), shes a bit more lively and witty.
Other characters - not yet! But I'm always open for creating/rping someone if a space in a crew is needed

Roleplay Example -
"Hold on to your panties..." Ellen mumbled. The ship took a sharp nosedive into the canyons below, with the Reaver ship behind them in close pursuit. With extreme effort, she barely managed to weave through the gorge.
"You're gonna get us killed!" Jason cried out.
"Do you wanna fly this thing?" she snapped back. Moments later, a sharp turn led to one of the turbines being grazed by the rock wall. It began to sputter, struggling to stay on. The Reaver ship drew even closer.
"We gotta lose them now!" the captain barked. Ellen nodded in response, and continued to scan ahead. She saw her moment of opportunity. It was a small gap between two rock pillars, barely large enough for the ship. Without hesitation she turned the ship on its side, still going full speed at it.
Before reaching the opening she closed her eyes and winced in anticipation. Although the hull received a beating, it remained intact, and the transport barely slipped through. The skiff chasing them failed to fit through, and blew up.
The worst behind them, Ellen readjusted the ship and slowed down to a cruise. The rest of the crew, who held onto their seats around the ship, began making their way to the cockpit.
Johner was the first to reach them. Despite being a oversized mercenary that bragged about being tough, he entered the room complaining.
"Shénme shì dìyù! What kind of flying was that?" he demanded.
"The kind that saved your sorry ass." Ellen said, smiling.
"She's reckless!" Johner complained, now facing the captain.
"Her fancy flying got us through that gap." the captain admitted.
Johner frowned. "Yeah well... dumb luck. I swear, if that gap was as small as her tits, we never would've made it."
The ship jerked forward and Johner, the only person not strapped down in the cockpit, fell flat on his face.
"Whoops. Sorry 'bout that. Must be my reckless flying." Ellen said.
