[+] Sings to herself softly sometimes, usually when bored, concentrating or frightened.

[+] Tends to flirt whether she's interested or not.

[-] Thunder. She hates being on planets during thunderstorms. Lightening doesn't frighten her, oddly enough.
Secrets -
[+] She's lost. Not in the traditional sense. She's just never really been found. She's relied on her family most of her life, so for the past few years being on her own was tough. Her naivety surprises even herself at times. She misses having someone to guide her.
Strengths -
[+] Information Gathering. Though a double edged sword, curiosity can be a good thing. Zona's quite skilled at finding out what she wants to know, whether by asking the right questions or people or just sneaking around and evesdropping.
[+] Loyalty. Zona's never abandoned anyone. Her relationships usually end (in her mind) when she's the one been abandoned. She misses her small little family, hastily creating new ones when the old ones fall apart. However, until they do fall apart, she's incredibly devoted to them and that continues on in the surviving members of each new group.
[+] Quick thinking. Zona is quick on her feet. Problem solving is a wall to be climbed, not a dead end. Some of her hasty ideas might seem ridiculous, but for the most part they all work out well in the end.
[+] Fierce. Normally, Zona is sweet and fun-loving, but when she's backed into a corner she becomes a wild beast. Her ferocity also comes out when people hurt those she's loyal to.
Weaknesses -
[-] Curiosity. Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought him back. Zona tends to get into trouble with her snooping around, but it's like some weird compulsion she can't control. She doesn't really feel a need to be meddlesome, putting herself into other people's way, but she just needs to know what's going on.
[-] Gullible. Zona tends to believe a lot of strange things if you sound believable enough. She's been in danger more than once for this.
[-] Dependent. Zona doesn't do well on her own. Her strength lies within the strengths of others. She needs direction in her life, and she never could find it on her own. Her values change with every crew she joins, with few exceptions.
[-] Soft-Hearted. To those she connects with, Zona tends to want to help. She can be rather naïve when it comes to her crews and friends, easily being duped when she thinks her help is needed. This doesn't apply to strangers, as she'll ignore the mugging of a random person. However, it's quite strong for those she cares about.
Talents/Special Abilities -
[+] Piloting. Her father taught her to pilot and she joined the war as a young pilot for the Independence. Afterward she had plenty of practice as a freelance pilot on Persephone with all manner of ships, as well as two smuggling ships under her belt.
[+] Hand-to-hand combat. She was taught a few different styles of fighting by the Browncoats during the War. She practiced and sparred with her fellow soldiers whenever there was a moment to spare, and continued to learn after the War was over. She's small, but she hits harder than one would think and she's quite quick on her feet as well. She has surprising balance and reflexes.
[+] Stealth. Again, her small size allows her to remain largely unnoticed when she wants to be inconspicuous. She's light on her feet even with boots on, but when sneaking around, she'll take the time to go without boots if the terrain allows it.
Aspirations - Finding a 'family.'
Overall Personality - Most people become aloof and secluded when they return from war. Zona was, oddly, the complete opposite. She chose to never grow up. She lost her family in the war, and she just never could shake the need for the feeling of belonging after that. She wanted the laughter, loyalty and love that came with a family, so her life has become centered around that need.
Zona is rather childish in her ways. She has an unchecked curiosity that gets her into trouble, from wandering off to asking a thousand questions to annoyed people. Her sense of wonder can be endearing at times, to the right people. However, her childishness also costs her some common sense, so she can be gullible at times, especially to those she's close to.
Though naïve, Zona isn't entirely innocent. She's a big flirt, and she loves a good innuendo. She's by no means a virgin, though she does tend to be selective about the beds she fills. There haven't been many, but you wouldn't know it from the way she talks. Her type isn't very obvious, her partners ranging from shy men to criminals, but they have one thing in common. All her partners have a wild imagination. We're not talking the paranoid type, but rather the type with amazing ideas and some who have traveled all over. Storytellers, inventors and the like. She loves to be captivated.
Now, you may be thinking why a girl like Zona can live with herself after all the killing she's done. She hasn't killed much since the war, you see, but some jobs just require a bit of a fight. Zona's a little religious. Not too much; she doesn't tote around a Bible or pray all the time. But this is a tough world, and frankly she doesn't mind that she's sending people out of it. She doesn't go out and murder, of course, but those killed in a firefight are going one of two places. If they were good people, they'll be in Heaven and they're better off without the world. If they weren't such stand up citizens, well... that ain't her doin', now, is it? World's probably better off without them.

Your History -
Zona Lorraine Dalton was the second child born to farmers on Jiangyin. She took a shine to her father's work early. He'd been a pilot for a trade ship before settling down, so when he wasn't tending to he farm he would show her how to pilot little things. Small land speeders and the like at first. She really wanted to go on a ship and learn, but the family wanted to stick together.
Zona's mother fell ill when she was eleven. After only a year, her mother passed away and her father just couldn't live on the farm anymore. Of course, he wouldn't allow the family to break up, so he sold the farm and used the money to buy his own small ship. It was a small cargo ship, bringing product to and from the rim planets. They had a small but loyal crew, with Lyndon doubling as both pilot and captain. Her brother helped out on the ship while Zona's father taught her how to pilot a bigger ship.
Things went pretty well, until the war. Naturally, Lyndon was on the side of the Independence. He was fiercely loyal to that side, and soon his kids were, too. Neither could wait to fight, but Zona was too young. She was left on their home planet with family friends while her brother and father got into a few skirmishes themselves. But they always came home.
When Zona turned eighteen, her father finally allowed her to fight. She put on the browncoat uniform and they trained her as best they could. She thought she was lucky when she, her brother and her father were shipped off together to fight in Serenity Valley. Upon arriving, they were split up. She and her father were set as pilots and her brother was sent with the ground troops. The battle raged on. Zona had no contact with her brother, and only tentative contact with her father. The Independence was losing. Her ship was caught in the firefight and Zona struggled to put it down nicely. She did the best she could, but they crashed pretty badly. The windshield had blown out, but Zona had been thrown back and pinned by junk. She called out to help, and the captain of the vessel staggered out. Mercy Shaw help get Zona unwedged and they climbed out of the wreckage together. Zona couldn't believe the destruction.
Mercy was wounded in the crash, but she and Zona managed to hide with other Browncoats until the end of the battle. Even then, they were stuck there for a week like the others. Mercy died before the battle ended, and Zona fell ill. It was a hard week, and every day she was worse. When medical aid finally came, she had to be carried to the ship. She'd come to find that her father's ship had gone down without any survivors and her brother was nowhere to be found. Elias was presumed dead.
After she recovered, she booked it to Persephone. It was the best place for a pilot to hone their skills and for a girl like her to get work. She went independent for a while, flying ships for different kinds of people. After a couple of years, she joined a smuggling ship with a nice enough captain by the name of Harland Wyatt. Things were good for a long while. The aging captain knew what he was doing and Zona learned some pretty neat tricks. She had a nice little family going. However, during one run they came across a distress signal. They boarded the ship, but there were no survivors... Zona was the one to find the bodies. Harland heard her screams and wrenched her from their view, holding her to his chest as the other crew piled into the room.
That was too much for the old man. He was never the same. He'd never been so close to encountering Reavers. He went back to Persephone to sell the ship, leaving his crew behind. Zona tried her best to convince them to stay together, but without the old man, they just weren't interested. Zona went back to work as a pilot independently. Now, she's just looking for work. Or, more accurately, a place to belong. Doesn't matter who's side they're on... so long as they're not Alliance.
