The 'Verse's Origins and History

• 2020 - 34 Tauri (the star cluster later to be known as "the 'Verse") is first discovered. Over the next few decades the area is further examined and many stars and planets are discovered.
• 2030 - It becomes clear that Earth can no longer sustain it's population growth for much longer than another 100 years.
• 2025-2050 - Advancements are made in space travel as well as gravity manipulation. Initial terraforming efforts are preformed within the solar system but fail.
• 2060 - Articles of Alliance are signed as the US and China begin the massive project of preparing for interstellar colonization of 34 Tauri.
• 2072 - First unmanned wave of ships departs for 34 Tauri to begin terraforming in advance of the human exodus.
• 2075 - Projections of Earth's sustainability show there is even less time remaining for humanity. All efforts are devoted to building the ark fleet including the dismantling of much of Earth's major cities for raw materials.
• 2090 - Arks begin to be loaded, first with supplies and materials and eventually with passengers. Earth's population has plummeted over the past few years due to war, crime, starvation, disease, and general squalor.
• 2097-2101 - The arks leave earth with 250,000,000 souls aboard. The rest of the world has reached near extinction. those few that remain are abandoned to their fate. It is assumed that by 2110 all life on Earth has ceased.
• 2200 - After 130 years of travel, the advance terrafroming fleet arrives and begins work.
• 2220 - Arks begin to arrive and finish terraforming of Londinium and Sihnon.
• 2225 - Colonization of the first of the "Core Worlds" is complete.

Series Timeline

• May to July 2506 - Pax released into the atmosphere of Miranda (*Educated guess, based on the assumption that it happened just before the war began.)
• 2506 - Interstellar Civil War, or the Unification War, begins.
• 2508 - December - Independent Forces are pinned down outside of New Kasmir.
• 2510 - The Siege of Du-Khang.
• 2511 - The Battle of Serenity Valley.
• 2511 - Unification War ends.
• 2512 - Malcolm Reynolds buys a used Firefly-class medium transport and begins to assemble a crew for the ship he has named Serenity.
• 2517 - Serenity takes on Shepherd Book, Simon Tam and River Tam (The events of Firefly).
• 2518 - The broadcast about Miranda is shown across the 'verse and is shortly dis-credited by the Alliance with the help of the Blue Sun Corporation .

Dreaming of Serenity Timeline

• 2520 - Prompted by the Signal and general discontent, a small rebellion begins on Beylix against Alliance rule.  Initially ignored, the conflict soon grows and prompts a firm Alliance response.
  
• 2526 - Only 15 years after Unification, the Alliance begins to fracture as Beylix is the first planet to regain its independence.  A combination of general resilience wearing down Alliance forces, rebellion spreading to a few nearby worlds, and a few key military victories led to the surprising result.
  
• 2532 - The Alliance finally accepts the failure of complete unification.  The Kalidasa system is completely abandoned along with a handful of other worlds as the Alliance tries to focus their forces and hold onto the remainder of the 'Verse.
  
• 2541 - Crucial Persephone within the White Sun system itself declares its independence.  This sparks a second wave of rebellions across the remaining Alliance holdings.  A brief war is fought in one last attempt by the Alliance to retain control, but the Rim unites behind Persephone and the conflict soon ends in a ceasefire.
  
• 2548 - The Alliance retreats to its current borders consisting of the inner 25 AU of the White Sun system and only a handful of outpost worlds in Georgia and Blue Sun.  The rest of the 'Verse has since splintered into numerous different entities ranging from empires or alliances comprising several worlds, to single independent worlds, to competing nations on a single planet or moon.
• 2567-2573 - The Six Years War is fought in the Georgia System primarily between the Huang Long Union and the Alliance.  The war ends inconclusively but further cements the Alliance's reduced position.
  
• 2573-2577 - The Red Pact War (or the War of Containment) erupts in the Red Sun System.  With the intervention of the Commonwealth of Nations, the Red Pact is soundly defeated.  Its quick rise in power is equaled only by its rapid declining membership in the wake of the war.
