Land Travel Whether it be used for deciding the planet-side vehicle housed on your ship, that used on a mission by your crew, or for any other purposes (e.g. adding depth to the RP but describing a passing vehicle) please feel free to use this thread as a resource. If you discover a vehicle from the canon that we have missed or would like to add an additional one that isn't listed here then please let the staff know. Hover Mule
The Flying Mule (both popular MF-813 and MF-950 variants) is a land based vehicle that hovers on a small cushion of air created between it and the ground. A standard hover mule is capable of carrying four passengers plus cargo and still maintain a very high rate of speed. Overloading the vehicle would greatly reduce its speed and possibly even overtax the hover technology making any movement completely impossible.
Like any mule, the vehicle's main role is to transport cargo across medium sized distances, but the people of the 'Verse have found numerous purposes for these vehicles. Hover mules can also be found in smaller sizes, seating just two passengers and naturally carrying less cargo as well. The MF model of hover mules is produced by the Blue Sun Corporation. Mule Bike
The mule bike is a four wheeled all-terrain and multi-purpose ground vehicle. It is smaller, cheaper, and easier to maintain than its hover cousin. Most mule bikes can carry only one or two passengers along with cargo and the possibility of an attached trailer. Personal Hovercraft
Not all vehicles have the industrial look and purpose of the mule. Land speeders serve the same purpose of land cars merely with the added hovercraft technology. They come in all sizes seating typically between two and six passengers although much larger vehicles are not totally unheard of. Land speeders are also highly customizable from their appearance to their internal capabilities to the potential addition of weaponry.
The primary advantage of a land speeder over a land car is speed and acceleration, an increased ability to traverse difficult terrain, and simply the prestige of owning the technology. The disadvantages are a large increase in cost, more difficult and expensive maintenance, as well as more vulnerabilities requiring more frequent maintenance. Personal Automobiles
Finding its place between the basics of animal power and the hi-tech hovercraft are automobiles, AKA land cars (or just "cars"). When it comes to cost, maintenance, skill to operate, ability to acquire, etc. they fall between the two extremes. Core Worlds are almost exclusively land speeders or land cars. Border Worlds tend to have a few speeders, many cars, and a substantial number of animals. Rim Worlds are primarily animal powered with a few land cars and the rare land speeder here and there.
Horses
Not everyone has or even needs a large machine for travel and transportation. The 'Verse is populated by several breeds of horses as well as other animals which perform all sorts of tasks. Horses are the most common form of transportation in the Rim and can be found in the Border and even the Core as well.
