So these are two plans that we can use. I stress the word can. Either would be ok, but first I want to cull the old "our friend is shot, so after you patch them up we'll hire you" routine. It is the exact one that the Trinity died on I believe, and aside from that being kinda jinxed, it also just got told, so something fresh would be cool. Aside from the fact, that if it isn't a main character, then if the person got wounded, it would make Roger's leadership on a run-of-the-mill-not-even-a-job-mission kinda look bad. And I really want this guy to have every opportunity to be a badass. The non essential character would simply be replaced by the powers that be, so it wouldn't have impact. And if it was a main character, then that character would have to be wounded, and we only have the three we don't want to be wounded on the ship right now. And we want to recruit her now. At least, that's how Onas sees it... So One; Two; Both ways avoid the ever typical "I'm a random epic medic who needs a job, and can't wait to fly again" "Yur hired!" This way, it's far more a channeled version. In one, Roger was specifically looking for a Medic, and she fit the bill. In the other, he had a need, and she had the desire to solve it.

I agree entirely that recruitments should always vary in how they happen. I doubt anyone wants to repeat how they happen anyway, so it's all good that we're brainstorming it. Plus kidnapping has already been done lately, too. So! As far as both these ideas go, they're both pretty neat. I would like to say that maybe... hrm. Instead of her being picked at random out of a hat-- because she's nothing overly special-- could be she was the one to help patch up or stop the bleeding of Roger's hand during the war? Depending on when that happened and whether she might have already been a POW by then. Then it's more recognition than "she looks fun?". I wouldn't mind going either route, to be honest. I think I also remember reading in the cbox earlier that like, they come to Beaumonde to find a guy that's already dead in her clinic-- or hire a guy from a dossier that's already dead? And while they're there it's like "Well, we need a medic" or "Hey, don't I know you?" and hire her from there. She has her own agenda, so she'd likely sign up after some thought. That still gives Onas the chance to delve into his underworld-ish fantasies. Just the suggested crewman is worm chow. But this is what discussion threads are for, right!?

So let me get it right in my head here. Onas suggests a guy who works on Beaumonde, who is an excellent doctor, but that dude dies before Roger gets there. Roger knows Ros from the war, and she happens to work there. They talk about/or don't, why he's there, and she offers to join, or he offers her to join?
We can do that, but the suggested crewmen(Doctor Wormfood) would have to have died very, very recently. If it had been a month ago, then Onas' intel will really start to look like crap on every front. I already screwed up once with his intel in the last thread, because I the writer fouled the info. Apparently, Roger has a slew of brothers he didn't know about, lmao!
But yeah, that's totally doable! Just need Rog to look it over, and tell us what he thinks.

Having a tie to Roger from the war and a "oh I know you" moment would help. However, working on Roger directly would not be an option. He got f-ed up at Serenity Valley, long after Ros was captured. Now if we still want to go the route of personal connection, we got two possibilities. 1) They were in the same place somewhere before Ros got captured. You don't have to be the guy bleeding out to know the medic. Maybe she was attached to Roger's company or something. Maybe her unit was just in the same place and they happened to cross paths or whatever.
2) Roger got wounded early in Serenity Valley. He was medevaced to a rear field hospital, then to an Alliance ship, then to a Browncoat hospital on some other planet. A few weeks before the war ends, that planet and the hospital he's in falls to Alliance control. Thus Roger spent a few weeks as a wounded POW. He could have interacted with her there either just as fellow POWs or also with Ros as a POW medic looking after his recovery.
Maybe both happened. He knew her in passing before she was captured and now he's captured and happens to be held in the same place. "Funny seeing you here."
Also of note, he lost his finger at the same time he nearly lost his entire right leg. He was medevaced because his leg was hanging by a thread and spewing forth liters of blood, not because his little finger got shot clean off. Just wanted to make that clear.

I'm good to go with that. And apologise for any offence to Roger's manhood by assuming he got evac'd over his pinky. :x The shock of not being able to raise it when he drank tea was too much. But anyway! I'm good to go with both. Maybe the crossing paths bit before her unit were captured, then the POW camp. And it's a fun coincidence they happen to come across her on Beaumonde, or her face in Onas's fancy dossier's catch his eye. Because he's like the Illusive Man now or something

I think we're just about ready for this now. Do we take Cheverus to some clinic where Ros is randomly or does Chev tell us to go to her because she's like the gang doctor, or what?

Maybe it's just the nearest known clinic to where they are? o: There's also a handful of other folks working the clinic besides Ros so maybe he knows someone who works there, or Ros. I'm cool with whichever. :]
Or as they're dragging him down the road they bump into her.

You could have him ask onas for a mafia friendly doc, then take him there, and Rog and Ros meet. No need if you don't wanna, just an idea

I'm just a little concerned that we had a gunfight in the middle of a city, four guys are dead, there are a half dozen witnesses running to the cops who are probably on the way, and we're dragging this guy out against his will while leaving a blood trail. I don't think we have time to call Onas. If this guys doesn't want to live badly enough to direct us to a doctor or if we don't already know where one is nearby then I believe it would be perfectly in-character to just kill him and get the hell out of dodge.

I figure now, after this thread is done, Ros can just show up on their doorstep with all her things. "I know I said this wasn't the smart option. You don't need to say it." In that kind of way. Lol.

Idea. Since the current plan is that Roger, Vitale, and Mai are kind of hiding from the feds and intend to make a mad dash to the ship and get off world before they're found out... *deep breath* ... and since Keller also needs some RP time. If you like, Ros could show up to the ship while Roger and Vitale are out recruiting Mai. You maybe have an awkward "Who the hell are you?" and a "Roger's not here." moment. Then as Ros is getting her gear on board, you might tie in with our feds thread with Keller receiving the brief message from Roger about their troubles.
Just a suggestion if you two are game.

are we fading that scene to black(muffins excluded)? If I had to pick a spot to end it, it would be that last post, it had a real good theatrical ending just then.
Should we go ahead and start the weapons thread?

Yeah, I don't mind ending it there, and I'm game. I'll show up all "Hey, Davis told me-- well you can point the gun at me later..." and then to the rescue? Or however they're having the getaway happen.
