Some common questions are answered here - if you've got a question that you think should be added, feel free to reply to this thread!

• How does this site vary from the series?
  -Our RP is currently set in 2582. That is sixty-four years after the movie Serenity (2518) and an additional year after the series Firefly (2517).  It's still the same space western setting we all know and love, but some important things have happened in the meantime.  Read this thread and this thread to catch up.
  
  
• Can I play a character from the show or movie?
  -Canon characters are not allowed here because the only person who we feel can truly play them is Joss Whedon himself. If by some fluke we did happen to find someone who can do well by their canon, it is simply too much hassle trying to replace them, should they leave the forum. Cutting out canons promotes good roleplay, and decreases the number of fanboys/girls who simply want to ruin their favorite character by stepping into their shoes.  Furthermore, the site is set far enough into the future that most canons are old or dead by now.
• Can I make a "River" type character?
  -No.  Sorry.  We've had bad experiences with overpowered characters.  Maybe... MAYBE we might consider it if you're a long time member that has proven themselves, but don't count on it.
• Can I play more than one character?
  -Yes, you may have up to 3 characters. If you are active enough you may submit a request to the staff for an additional character. Note that your limit of 3 is purely characters, this does not include NPCs which will be approved at the discretion of the Staff. 
  You must create a new account for every character and even for NPCs if you plan to use them on their own.
• Can I be on the staff?
  -If we need staff members we will determine good candidates by their interactions on the forum.
• Do staff members get paid?
  -No, the staff does not get paid for their work. Any donations made by members to the site are used for the site, it is not for us.
• Can I be a moderator?
  -Currently we do not have any mods and don't plan to have any. The staff should be active enough to take care of any moderation needs. If we need mods in the future we will address it at that point.
• How does my character join a ship?
  -That depends on the ship you're asking about. Your best bet is to contact the captain or person in charge of the ship and talk it out with them.  Ship openings might also be listed here.
• What dimensions can I use for my avatar and signature?
  -We ask that you resize your avatar to be no larger than 200x300, and signatures should be no larger than 500x300. If your avatar or sig stretch the board it will be removed without warning, because this is your warning.
• Can my character die?
  -Simply put, yes. There are two ways that your character could die here; one being you want them to die and plot out their glorious death with other characters on the board. The second is not so glorious. If you play a key character and disappear from the board, the staff may decide that your character needs to die for others to continue roleplaying. If we can avoid such an event we will. Your character may just end up injured and out of the picture.
• Can I play my character's family members or a random person without having to make a new character?
  -In most cases, absolutely. For instance, a minor role that will not be seen often around the site is perfectly fine, like when your character is at home and is interacting with family members. But if you have a family member that you want to post with as frequently as your own character, we may ask you to just create a new character for that person.
• There's more planets on the map than we have boards for. What's up with that?
  -First, we would like to also have a focus on planet-side RP on our forums rather than just ship focused and secondly there are also just so very many locations it would be impractical to have each planet and moon have its own board. The current layout allows for more concentration of our RP. As we grow our member-base we will add more boards over time.
